Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (QCF)
Designed to help you build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people.
- This course is *Available Now*
- Covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in children’s workforce setting including early years and social care.
- Is ideal if you would like to begin working directly with children and young people.
- Covers the age range from birth to 19 years
Placement
- Suitable if you are working , volunteering or on a practical placement.
- To gain a placement please contact your local schools or childcare setting requesting time to support your studies.(further advice can be obtained by contacting the TA College)

- You will need to achieve 35 credits
- 31 credits from all the 13 mandatory units and a minimum of 4 credits from the bank of optional units.
- The qualification also contains some common Level 3 and Level 4 units with the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce. This enables credits and learning to be transferred from this qualification to the Diploma providing you with a direct progression route.

Learning & Development Support Services. - In addition it contains an optional unit ‘Understand how to set up a home based child care service’
(This can be taken as a stand alone unit for those who wish to become registered childminders) - This Level 3 qualification is the only one conferring occupational competence for the children and young people’s workforce in England.
- Covers the age range from birth to 19 years
Placement
- Suitable if you are working , volunteering or on a practical placement in an environment suitable for the pathway you are taking as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
- To gain a placement please contact your chosen childcare setting requesting support for your studies.(further advice can be obtained by contacting the TA College)

- Early Learning & Childcare pathway: You will need to complete a further 5 mandatory units. Total value 22 credits
- Children’s Social Care pathway: If you choose this pathway you will need to complete a further 3 mandatory units. Total value 13 credits
- Learning & Development Support Services pathway: Choosing this pathway requires a further 3 mandatory units. Total value 13 credits
- All learners will then need to take optional units chosen from the option bank to bring the credits achieved so far to a minimum of 65 credits.

Course content
Consists of 9 units - 4 mandatory units and 5 optional units.
You need to complete all 9 units to achieve the full certificate.
Entry Requirements:
This level 4 course is ideal if you are working in childcare in face- to- face roles with children, young people (aged 0-16 years) and families at a senior management level.
Course Fees:
UK: £2574 (May be subject to contribution towards travel expenses of a visiting assessor if more than 50 miles from Stafford.)
