How will I be Assessed?
Throughout your course you will collect evidence whilst working in school, this will help you to complete the online tasks posted on the tacollege.com website, or to write pieces of evidence.
The new QCF courses allow you to complete evidence in any way that allows you to demonstrate completion of the assessment criteria.
This maintains a flexible approach to your course and ensures that your needs as a learner come first.
Your tutor will assist you in planning your work and help you to choose the most effective methods for you.
Most of the units you will study for have a requirement for some assessment criteria to be assessed in your work place. This means that you can write about your work in the form of a reflective account, or the teacher can write about your work in the form of an observation or witness testimony.
Your tutor will also be able to help you work with your teacher in the recording of evidence.
If you are based in the UK
Your tutor assessor from The TA College will visit you for ONE half a day.
During their time with you they will observe you working in the classroom and have a discussion about your job. This is nothing to worry about as all our Tutor Assessors are really friendly and only come to observe the great work that you do, it’s a really supportive process and included in the course price.
If you are completing your course outside of the UK
Throughout your course you are provided with a Tutor to support you, however, you also have a choice to either:
Have a mentor in school who is either a qualified teacher or a qualified assessor (most likely the class teacher you work with) who will be responsible for carrying out observations and liaising occasionally with your Tutor Assessor based at the TA College.(see FAQs for details of school based assessor responsibilities)
Or
If your school are extremely busy and are unable to provide a mentor, or are perhaps reluctant to support you in the assessment process, or maybe you would just prefer not to ask, you can decide to pay an additional amount for your Tutor Assessor from the TA College to visit you in your school.
You can do this by choosing the TA College Assessor course option.
