UWCSEA East Campus; Infant and Junior School, Singapore
United World College South East Asia
16th and 17th April 2018
We were asked to Singapore by the head of the infant and junior school Pauline, who we had previously worked with in Belgium. The School had already bought our Effective Teaching Assistant Resource File and were looking for a starting point to develop from so we went to complete an audit of the role and use of TAs across the school.
There was a very warm welcome to the amazing place that is the East Campus of UWCSEA. With an 8 form intake, an audit of TAs was going to be hectic, but made really enjoyable by the fabulously open and willing staff and the superb timetabling skills of the school.
At the end of the 2 days and 30 observations there was a great feedback meeting with the SMT to share information and findings from 2 days observing.
This gave an overview of what the TAs were used for in different areas of the school as well as an opportunity for me to air some of the discussions that took place about how they would like their roles to develop.
A list of recommended actions for individuals and groups to move forward was suggested. I hope to visit again soon to start off the TAs on their endorsed training and extend their enthusiasm and skills in their roles.
